Village Plaza

The diamond-shaped, proposed village “plaza” has been designed to be a compact, central gathering area bordered by mixed residential-commercial buildings. Proposed Market Plaza Longlands’ plaza design envisages a well-appointed village square serviced by the regional transit system. Community activities within the Plaza will centre on outdoor cafes and farmers’ markets, and will be animated with people coming and going to shops, people window shopping or going to their doctor and dentist offices, or pursuing recreational activities like golfing or going to the spa. The spaces within the plaza have been scaled to feel comfortable at a range of different intensities of use - from just the regular traffic generated by residents, to the occassional larger gathering for a farmers' market or special event.

Project Status:

The Longlands Development Project has been placed 'on hold' by the Comox Valley Regional District, pending more resolution on the draft Comox Valley Regional Growth Strategy. Island Coastal Ventures Ltd. will seek to go before the EASC again in late spring/early summer of 2010. In the interim, ICV will evaluate its current investment security and is likely to make a public statement soon on it's long term intent for continued investment in the Comox Valley.
