Longlands is a proposed mixed-use, sustainable community located in the Comox Valley, BC and is being developed by Island Coastal Ventures Ltd. It has been designed to protect and enhance the natural features of the existing Longlands golf course (and surrounding landscape) and to target the highest standard of LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for all buildings. The vision is to create a highly sustainable and vibrant ‘village in the trees’ where people can live, work, shop and play.

Longlands will be a walkable ‘lifestyle centre’ with a special focus on quality architecture that delivers sensible, diverse housing styles and complimentary commercial services. Housing types, amenities and services will be designed to attract everyone from families and individuals to those who are looking for an opportunity to age-in-place. The completed community will include an enhanced golf course, retail stores and services, spa, seasonal farmer’s market, nature trails, naturalized playground and community plaza. Other services such as a daycare, eating establishments and assisted-living buildings will round out this lifestyle centre.

Our website has been designed to provide as much background as possible on the project – we have an enormous story to tell and we believe that we have designed a project with many positive benefits to the community. However, we also recognize that development can come at a cost to communities if not considered carefully. It is one of the Longlands Project’s primary aims to ensure that the whole community has access to, and an understanding of, not just the benefits of our project, but also the potential impacts to the community. We hope that our website at least partially facilitates telling the whole story, not just the promotional parts!

We want to be part of your community, and we want to contribute to building a beautiful, livable Comox Valley. It is also our desire to be part of regional solutions that help to move us all closer to sustainability. Project Status:

The Longlands Development Project has been placed 'on hold' by the Comox Valley Regional District, pending more resolution on the draft Comox Valley Regional Growth Strategy. Island Coastal Ventures Ltd. will seek to go before the EASC again in late spring/early summer of 2010. In the interim, ICV will evaluate its current investment security and is likely to make a public statement soon on it's long term intent for continued investment in the Comox Valley.
